2022 Persevering Through Paralysis Scholarship

P

The day-to-day challenges of living with paralysis are often forgotten by people who do not have those same experiences. Whether paralysis is something you have lived with for years or your life is still adjusting to this big change, we want to commend those who have shown that no matter what challenges may come their way, there is nothing they cannot overcome!

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, an organization dedicated to funding research to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, did a study and found that nearly 1 in 50 people in the United States are living with paralysis. In this study, they also found that one of the leading causes of paralysis was spinal cord injuries. They estimated that 27.5% of those living with paralysis were paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury. These spinal cord injuries are often the result of motor vehicle accidents.

As a personal injury law firm, we work with accident victims every day and are aware of the life-altering impacts of paralysis. We also have seen the incredible strength and resilience of those who have been faced with these difficult experiences. This is why those of us at Sepulveda Sanchez Law, PC are proud to offer our Persevering Through Paralysis Scholarship!

Our firm wants to give back to and celebrate those who are living with paralysis. Through this scholarship, we would like to give people living with paralysis the opportunity to share their stories, how paralysis has impacted their life, and the goals they hope to achieve.

Once all submissions have been received, the entries will be reviewed, and one student will be selected to receive a $1,000 award. The deadline to submit your application will be February 28, 2022.
