Recently Gabriel Sepúlveda Sánchez appeared on Law & Crime to talk about the recent developments in the case where Alec Murdaugh stands accused of killing his wife and son.
Murdaugh took the stand to defend himself as the prosecution went through cross-examination, trying to build their case and prove that Murdaugh is not only lying but that he’s also guilty of the crime they are accusing him of.
The importance of Murdaugh’s credibility.
After this last hearing, Gabriel was asked what his main point where from the prosecution’s cross-examination and he commented on how they’ve managed to establish that Murdaughs is not credible and that he’s clearly a liar, but he also commented that proving that might not be enough to prove motive and that he killed his family.
The jury and the way the Prosecution handled the cross-examination.
While going over the hearing, Gabriel was asked about his thoughts on the way cross-examination was handled, and he shared that he didn’t agree with the way the DA conducted it, where instead of going for strong yes or no questions and pressuring on facts like why did Murdaugh lie about being the first on the scene, letting the jury make a decision based on those answers, he chose to make long, more story-heavy questions that would often times miss the point.
This week, at least 4 new witnesses are expected to appear in court for the defense, and the trial still remains far from a clear outcome, as it could still go either way while the prosecution tries its best to build their case.
